Pittsylvania County Schools Plan for Continuous Instruction

The Central Office Instructional Department and building level administrators are working collaboratively to ensure that our students have access to instructional materials during the required ordered closing of schools by Governor Ralph Northam due to COVID-19.

Informational alerts are communicated to parents via School Messenger and or Class DOJO electronic platform. For students who did not receive packets of instructional materials at the close of schools on Friday, March 13, 2020, parents are being notified by the schools regarding multiple methods to obtain access via email, in-person pickup practicing social distancing, or US mail.

At the elementary school level, students have access to their Envision math and Wonders reading workbooks in hand or prepared for distribution along with suggested assignments. Middle and high school students may access instructional materials and assignments via Google Classroom and other electronic platforms.

Again, if Internet access is unavailable, parents may contact the schools for the designated times to pick-up paper versions of the instructional packets found online. Parents who are in need of assistance accessing Google Classroom may visit the PCS website, click on the Parent Tab and access How to Use Google Classroom.

For more specific information regarding continuity of instructional services, please contact your child's school.

Please note:  Schools are closed by order of the Governor's office.  Therefore, the instructional packets that have been provided to students are strictly for the continuity of instruction for content already taught (for review purposes only) and will not be graded at this time.
