Kindergarten Registrations for School Year 2024-2025

Pittsylvania County Public Schools is now accepting kindergarten registrations for the 2024–2025 school year. Children must be five years old on or before September 30 to be eligible. Parents and guardians needing to identify the school their child will attend should contact Pupil Transportation at one of the following numbers: 

  • From Danville: 799-0522
  • From Chatham: 432-8821
  • From Gretna: 656-1339

Parents and guardians of eligible kindergarten students may pre-register their child by completing the online pre-registration form below. The base school will contact the parent to schedule an appointment to complete the registration process.

In order to expedite the enrollment process, parents can access, complete, and return an enrollment packet consisting of the following forms:

Parents may pick up an enrollment packet at any of our ten elementary schools’ administrative offices or print the PDF forms from the online links above.

Please return your completed enrollment packet to the school office during normal operations from 8:00-4:00 daily, by United States mail to your child’s school, or place the sealed packet in the collection bin located at the entrance of the school your child will attend.

Upon completion of the online pre-registration form or receipt of a completed enrollment packet, the school registrar will contact parents and guardians to schedule an in-person appointment to review the following required documents:

  • Child’s birth certificate (official or certified copy)
  • Photo ID of parent or legal guardian

Proof of residency is required. This includes providing three of the following documents, which must reflect the parent’s/guardian’s name and physical address:

  • Current Virginia State Driver’s License/Identification Card
  • Current mortgage statement from the lender
  • Current lease (signed)
  • Sales contract for the purchase of the residence (signed by seller and purchaser)
  • Current landline telephone, water, gas/oil, or electricity service bill
  • Voter registration card
  • Current DMV issued vehicle registration/Title
  • W-2 tax document for the most recent tax year
  • Combined bill and receipt for personal property taxes (paid within the current year)
  • Check stub from current employer
  • Current bank statement, homeowner’s insurance policy, medical bill, or official correspondence from a governmental agency dated within the last two months

Registration is not final until the in-person appointment occurs and the registrar receives all of the required documentation. In-person appointments for this purpose are permissible under current guidance provided by state officials. All staff and guests are expected to follow all official social distancing and related guidance issued by Governor Youngkin, the Virginia Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control.
