VCU Announces On-line Reading Programs for Teachers

VCU's Department of Teaching and Learning has developed an online version of their Reading Program. Both the Master Degree in Education in Reading and Post-Master's Certificate for Reading Specialists degrees have been created. For licensed teachers with three years of teaching experience, both degrees lead to the endorsement as a Reading Specialist K-12 in Virginia. To learn more about this online program, please follow this link: http://www.soe.vcu.edu/programs/vcu-reading-specialist-online/

The first cohort will begin in August, 2017, with TEDU 561: Reading Foundations for all Reading candidates and EDUS 607: Advanced Educational Psychology for M.Ed. in Reading candidates only. The program also offers an elective, TEDU 526: Word Study, in the summer, beginning on May 22, 2017.

Candidates may apply to graduate school this Spring for Summer or Fall, 2017, admission, but must apply before finishing 6 credit hours in the program. Information relating to applying for this program can be found here: http://graduate/admissions.vcu.edu/apply/

For additional information, please contact Dr. Valerie Robnolt, Reading Program Chair, at vhrobnolt@vcu.edu or 804-827-2649.

The College of Graduate and Professional Studies at Longwood University announces its Summer 2017 Online Professional Development Courses for educators. These courses are designed for non-degree seeking students who would like to earn graduate credit over the summer, with options ranging from 3 credit hour graduate classes or 1 credit opportunities.

With all of our classes being offered fully online, you can have the flexibility of enjoying your summer schedule while continuing to work on earning credits toward teacher licensure or recertification at our affordable rate of $275/credit (in-state).

Do you know someone with provisional status interested in moving into full teacher licensure? If so, we offer four of the classes required by the VDOE to achieve this. They are marked with * below.
