Swearing-In and Reorganization Meeting

Pittsylvania County Schools is proud to recognize the members of the School Board following their swearing-in ceremony and annual reorganization meeting held yesterday evening.
Swearing-In Ceremony The school division celebrates the induction of three dedicated public servants who were re-elected by the community during the November 4, 2025, election. These individuals have committed to another four-year term of service to the students, staff, and families of Pittsylvania County:
• Mr. Calvin D. Doss – Callands-Gretna District
• Mr. Willie T. Fitzgerald – Banister District
• Mrs. Kelly H. Merricks – Dan River District
The oath of office was administered by the Honorable Angie R. Harris, Clerk of Court for Pittsylvania County. Ms. Shani Shorter, General Registrar and Director of Elections, also attended the ceremony to present each board member with their official certificate of election.
2026 Board Reorganization Following the swearing-in, the Pittsylvania County School Board convened for its reorganization meeting to establish leadership for the 2026 calendar year. The board elected the following members to lead for the upcoming term:
• Chairman: Mr. Mark R. Shields
• Vice Chairman: Mr. Calvin D. Doss
