Posted on 08/23/2024
On Tuesday, August 20th, 2024, Governor Youngkin spoke at a press conference about the 2023-2024 Standards of Learning (SOL) test results and the efforts made by Virginia educators to improve student achievement using the All In funding. The results showed that across the state, 70% of school divisions improved in grades 3-8 reading, and 75% of schools improved in grades 3-8 math. In high school, the pass rate for math increased from 81% to 84%. However, there was a slight decrease in the reading pass rate for high school students, dropping from 85% in the 2022-2023 school year to 84% in 2023-2024.
The average pass rates for Pittsylvania County students in reading, math, social studies, and science are above the state average, which speaks volumes about the division's effort to help our students learn at high levels. Our insistence on students giving their best effort on all tasks, coupled with our resolve to maintain high expectations, leads to these outstanding results.
