Pittsylvania County Schools has been recognized with the Innovation in Education, Government, or Community Outreach Award at the Southern Piedmont Technology Council’s Innovation Stars Banquet.

The division’s Rooftop Solar Project, developed in partnership with Sun Tribe, is a standout initiative featuring solar arrays installed at all four high schools, with five additional schools included in phase two. This project delivers meaningful clean-energy savings, provides important roof improvements, and offers students hands-on STEM learning opportunities through real-time data on energy production and carbon reduction.

The award was proudly accepted by Assistant Superintendent for Operations, Dr. Eric Moon, demonstrating Pittsylvania County Schools’ leadership in advancing sustainable, future-focused education.
