Agriculture & Technology Students Explore Careers

The Agriculture Program at Gretna High School hosted the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) on September 17, 2025. Students from both the Agriculture and Technology Programs had the opportunity to connect with skilled VDOT professionals and learn about the technical skills required to operate heavy machinery used in daily operations. They experienced hands-on learning through a simulator designed to replicate the tasks involved in using a grader. An actual grader and a “crash truck” were also on display, allowing students to sit inside the grader and gain insight into how the crash truck protects both drivers and VDOT crews by preventing major collisions on Virginia’s roads.
