Employee of the Week: Rebecca Kostopanagiotis

February 9-13, 2026

Dan River High School is proud to recognize Mrs. Rebecca Kostopanagiotis as our Employee of the Week! Mrs. Kostopanagiotis’s colleagues highlighted her extraordinary ability and readiness to adapt during the SOL testing window. She is truly a “testing coordinator extraordinaire,” serving in many capacities and consistently making things better with a smile.

Known as “Mrs. K” around Dan River High, she serves as the school’s 11th-grade counselor, 504 Coordinator, and SOL/CTE Testing Coordinator. While wearing so many hats can be overwhelming at times, she is grateful that her various roles allow her to connect with students across grade levels and in many different capacities. One of the best parts of her job is maintaining an “open door,” where students can come for help, seek advice, or simply vent about what’s going on in their lives.

Mrs. Kostopanagiotis graduated from the University of Virginia in 2018 and earned her master’s degree in school counseling from the College of William and Mary. When her “school counselor hat” is off, you might find her reading on the couch with her dog, Desi, watching a Carolina Panthers game with her husband (a very loyal fan), or painting artwork for friends, family, and local buyers.
