Licensure Questions
If you have questions about licensure, please contact Lisa Parker, Human Resources Specialist, (
[email protected]
), or call (434) 432-2761, ext. 5006.
Virginia License Online (VALO)
VDOE - VALO
The VDOE no longer mails license certificates or communications to divisions or individuals. Please set up your VALO account to access license information, provisional evaluation letters or any other correspondence from the VDOE regarding your teaching license. Please refer to the VALO User Guide available on the website for getting started and navigating VALO.
Individuals can print a current license, change name/address and print VDOE communications regarding a license. If you are a PCS employee and adding a degree or endorsement via VALO, please notify Lisa Parker. The division does not receive a notification of these requests.

International Coursework/Degrees
Individuals who are seeking an educator license and who attended a college/university or earned a degree outside of the United States need to obtain an evaluation of their credentials. Applicants can request an evaluation from a member organization of one of the two national associations of credential evaluation services:
National Association of Credential Evaluation Services
Association of International Credentials Evaluators
