Wild Columbine Flower

The Wild Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) can be found in our trail area. It is confined to cliffs or rich, rocky woods. It is interesting to note that this beautiful plant seems to hang on after its surrounding woodland trees are partly cut. Locally, soil-filled rock crevices provide a suitable place for the growth of this plant. To find this plant within our trail area, we seek out shady, north-facing sites.
