The Blue-tailed Skink (Eumeces
faciatus) is actually the immature five-lined skink. It is often seen scampering
amongst rocks and fallen logs. The adult five-lined skink was pictured on the Boulder
Trail. When the end of the blue-tailed skink's tail is pulled off, the tail will heal but remain short. Old sawdust piles are favorite sites for these colorful lizards.
