Health Services
Health Services is comprised of three full time School Nurse
Coordinators and a School Nurse position in every school.
-
The School Nurse Coordinators are registered nurses whose
responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing
state-mandated and recommended student screenings (including vision,
hearing, height, weight and blood pressure), screening students who
are new to the County for vision and hearing, completing components
for the Special Education process, scheduling and/or providing
training for school staff in certain areas of health-related topics,
and overseeing the delivery of healthcare in each school by the school
nurse.
-
Each school has a school nurse position filled by either a licensed
practical nurse or a registered nurse. These nurses work either full
time or four hours per day for the purpose of giving medications to
the students and providing care to the ill or injured.
