Substitute Teacher
Training: AUP
This AUP describes the expectations of Pittsylvania County Schools for its
technology users.
Persons violating this policy may suffer disciplinary action including,
but not limited to, the loss of privileges relating to the use of
technology in the schools.
Persons using computer technologies relating to Internet access are
expected to read, understand, and sign an AUP document before using these
facilities.
Acceptable Uses
-
In
keeping with the educational mission of PCS, Internet content available
to student users is filtered. Students are not permitted to circumvent
or attempt to circumvent the filtering system to gain access to sites
which are blocked.
-
Student communication with other online users (i.e., email) is
prohibited unless permitted by the supervising teacher.
-
Students are not permitted to visit online chat rooms or to “free surf.”
-
Unrestricted use of search engines is discouraged for all users.
Supervising personnel should provide a listing of URLs for student
access, once sites have been determined to be appropriate for classroom
use.
-
Responsibilities of Substitutes When Taking Students to the Computer Lab
-
Provide constant supervision. Walk about the lab. If you are
stationary, be certain to stand in the back of the room so that you are
able to see all monitor displays. Do not engage in the use of a
computer while supervising students.
-
Be
certain students follow the seating chart. Lab seating charts are kept
in a binder in the lab, and each teacher is required to have one on
file.
-
If
it becomes necessary to move a student to a different station, note the
date, time, and station number and report this to the teacher.
Summary
Pittsylvania County Schools takes very seriously its responsibility to
uphold the AUP and to protect its students from online threats.
