Kate Wells began her classroom teaching
career at Tunstall Middle school in the fall of 2006, but she has been
a teacher at heart for most of her life. She earned her bachelor’s
degree in English from Appalachian State University and then continued
at ASU to earn her master’s degree in Reading Education. Over the
years, Mrs. Wells has taught students from age 2 to 62, but sixth
grade seems to be just the right fit. Mrs. Wells also serves as
co-sponsor of the Tunstall Middle School Jr. Beta Club.
On a personal note, Kate has been
married to Pittsylvania county native and Tunstall High graduate, Mike
Wells, for 15 years. They have three children. Curtis is a freshman
at Tunstall High. Grant is in the seventh grade at Tunstall Middle,
and Maggie is finishing fifth grade at Twin Springs Elementary. Mrs.
Wells is an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. On
weekends, you will often find Mrs. Wells sitting on the sidelines of a
soccer game, cheering for one of her children.
Kate would like to thank her coworkers
at TMS for nominating her. She feels fortunate to be part of the TMS
family, and to work with such supportive administrators, faculty, and
staff members. TMS is truly fortunate to have Mrs. Wells as part of
our faculty.
