Tunstall High School custodian Mike Jones has been selected as
Pittsylvania County Schools Employee of the Week.
Mr.
Jones has been a part-time custodian at Tunstall for 11 years and moved
into a full-time position this year.
His
very demanding job includes cleaning the rooms, scrubbing and waxing
floors, and getting everything ready for students. “I like to have things
looking nice, so the students can come here and do what they are supposed
to do, learn,” he explained.
The
honoree enjoys his job and seeing the students and staff everyday.
“Everyone here is very friendly; I actually like coming to work,” he
added.
Mr.
Jones and his wife, Gemelia, have one child, Contavia, who graduated from
Tunstall last year. He is a member of Bethelway Church and enjoys fishing
in his spare time.
“I
chose Mr. Jones because he always has a pleasant demeanor and works very
hard,” explained Mrs. Kirsten Harper, assistant principal. “He always
does what is asked of him and takes great pride in his work. He is truly
an asset to Tunstall High School.” |
