It's only fitting that you'll find Barbara Clay sitting behind a desk in the Support Services Department for Pittsylvania County Schools. This Campbell County native has always been committed to both lifelong learning and to helping others. Ms. Clay was first an honor graduate, with a 4.0 average, from William Campbell High School in Naruna, Virginia. Following her graduation, she attended night school at Lynchburg Community College where she studied Accounting I and II; Business Supervision; Excel and Microsoft Word. Prior to accepting employment with PCS, Barbara was employed for 16 years as an Office Manager and Head Bookkeeper. She later accepted a grant-funded position as an Outreach Worker for School Health Services back in 1995. In 1999, she returned to her financial roots by first taking a position as the Accounts Payable Clerk and later as the Payroll Clerk for PCS. Since 2005, she has served as the Executive Administrative Assistant for Support Services. Her other duties include serving as Secretary for the School Health Advisory Board. She says she has truly enjoyed getting to know and working with all levels of professionals committed to the education of children, especially those with special needs. Ms. Clay has held the classification of a
Notary Public for the Commonwealth of Virginia for the last for 28 years.
She is an active member of Siloam United Methodist and is the Pastor-Parrish
Chairperson. Barbara Clay's skills in both finances and in service to others has truly enriched the workplace for Pittsylvania County Schools. Proclaiming her, then, as the Employee of the Week just adds up. | |
