Dan River High School
is proud to recognize Mrs. Betty Allgood as our Employee of the Week.
Mrs. Allgood has taught
business education for 24 years. She has been with Pittsylvania County
Schools for the past 16 years at both Chatham High School and Dan River
High Schools.
In addition to teaching
various business courses throughout her teaching tenure, Mrs. Allgood has
also served in a number of leadership roles within the school. She
currently serves as a sponsor for the Future Business Leaders of America
and works tirelessly with the members of the organization on service
projects and regional competitions. Mrs. Allgood also served as the
chairperson for the United Way campaign for Dan River High School for the
2009-10 school year – which boasted the largest overall contribution and
the overall per capita contribution for high schools in Pittsylvania
County thanks to Mrs. Allgood’s efforts and hard work! She is also a
High Schools that Work team chairperson and has worked diligently to
organize notebooks of differentiated lesson plans by department as a
resource for the entire school faculty.
“Dan River High School is
the great school that it is because of staff members like Mrs. Allgood –
she is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to help any way she
can,” said Principal Elizabeth Craig. “Mrs. Allgood is the epitome of a
master educator and we are blessed to have her as part of our Dan River
High School faculty!”
Mrs. Allgood’s
expectations are high for her students, and she is proud of all her
students. She is especially proud, however, of Dan River High School’s
award-winning FBLA members, as well as her students who have acquired
industry certifications. Mrs. Allgood is frequently heard making the
following statement to her students, “My job is to make you look good!”
Mrs. Allgood lives in
Ringgold, and has been married to her husband, Sid, for 39 years. They
have three daughters, Laura, Lynn, and Leigh Ann. Mrs. Allgood is also
the proud grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters! Mrs. Allgood will
retire in June from Dan River High School, ending her teaching career at
the same school from which she graduated!
The administration,
faculty, staff, and students would like to congratulate Mrs. Betty Allgood
on being named Pittsylvania County School’s Employee of the Week. Thank
