There isn't a picture of Greg Cox on the home page this week and he wouldn't have it any other way. When you consider the work that he does, it waxes poetic. Just as invisible as the wireless signals he oversees, few people actually lay eyes on Greg in the schools.
Greg Cox, our PCS wireless technician, stays off the radar screen. But the very reason you're able to read this page is due to the fact that he stays on task 24/7.
We've come to enjoy Internet access at work and at home so much so that we take it for granted. But, it's the dedication of employees like Greg who make sure we have this access. He's out and about nights, weekends and holidays checking and repairing the equipment as needed.
Just like Mohammed, since the mountain won't come to him, Greg often has to go to the mountain.
White Oak, that is. It's there that he monitors the wireless Internet connectivity of our schools and libraries. It's there that he makes sure that you have the connection you need to check your email, find out what's for school lunch, and give SOL tests.
All the servers in the world are just big computers all dressed up with nowhere to go until they have Internet access. And all the labs would just be standalone computers until he works his magic.
Greg Cox is the epitome of working behind the scenes. Which is the very reason we want to spotlight his work...even without a picture.
Thank you, Greg, for making Pittsylvania County Schools' Internet access robust and reliable.
