When will my employee be recognized?

Emily Hill

Nancy Fowler of Gretna High

"I am truly honored that my colleagues have chosen me to receive this distinction.”
-- Nancy Fowler

A pleasant smile, a good sense of humor, and unfailing attention to detail characterize Nancy B. Fowler, Pittsylvania County Schools’ Employee of the Week. Mrs. Fowler, who has devoted thirty-one years of service to the division, began her career as bookkeeper at Gretna High School sixteen years ago after having served the Southside and Spring Garden Elementary school communities. Mrs. Fowler notes “I come in contact with teachers, students, and parents on a daily basis as I carry out my many duties.  I strive to do my best and to be a positive influence on those with whom I come in contact.  I am truly honored that my colleagues have chosen me to receive this distinction.”  As the overwhelming number of votes garnered by her nomination attests, her work ethic and commitment to excellence are evident to all with whom she works.

Mrs. Fowler who resides in Blairs with her husband Frank is the devoted mother of three sons (Dean, Ronald, and Donald), a member of Blairs Baptist Church, and an avid traveler.  She is particularly proud of her eight grandchildren:  Whitni, Lance, Carli, Frankie, Emily, Joshua, Tanner, and Luke Dillon.  Mrs. Fowler’s faith and love of family have imbued her with the strength and resolve to surmount even the most difficult challenges.

She is particularly inspired by the following words of Mother Theresa:  “We can do no great things; only small things with great love.”
