Responsibilities of the Visiting Teacher Include:
  • Meeting with parents to complete social history evaluation reports for Special Education Services.
  • Working with families to help increase regular school attendance and reduce truancy.
  • Represent Pittsylvania County Schools in Pittsylvania County Juvenile and Domestic Court involving truancy cases.
  • Provide on-going communication between school and court officials to reduce truancy.
  • Coordinate services between service providers and the school system.
  • Acts as liaison between schools and families when schools are unable to contact families.
