The fourth and fifth grade students at
Southside Elementary School participated in the National Geographic Bee on
Thursday, January 5, 2012. The students were questioned on materials
prepared by the National Geographic Society. Students were eager to show
what they have learned throughout the years about geography and world
events. Fifth grader Olivia Roberts emerged as the first place winner for the school. Second place was claimed by Rachel Rohlfsen, a fourth grader. Third place recognition was earned by fifth grader Taylor Moore. The following students received participation awards: Fourth Grade: Kael Terry, Jahna Waters, Bradley Giles, Ethan Hardy, and Kamber Lee and Fifth Grade: Xavier Ferguson, Andre Zaher, Grayson Reed, and Taylor Moss. The school winner will now take a written test to help determine the top 100 scores across the state. Those finalists will compete in their State Bee. |
