Stony Mill Elementary Hosts Giving Tree |
![]() |
|
Stony Mill Elementary School has a long
standing tradition called the “Giving Tree.” Through the years, students
have brought various items to donate to the tree: packs of Kool-Aid,
toothbrushes, toys, paper products and flashlights. This year the students
are decorating the tree with stuffed animals in a project deemed
“Christmas Creatures.” So far, two trees are completely covered in teddy
bears, monkeys, dogs, cats, elephants and even a couple of hippopotamuses!
The stuffed animals will be donated to God’s Pit Crew who will distribute them throughout the coming year to children who are victims of natural disasters. Giving Tree coordinator Katherine Blair says, “Christmas is a time to think of others. Giving stuffed animals is a simple way to say ‘we care’ to children who need to hear it. I am so proud of the students of Stony Mill who are sharing these gifts in the true spirit of the season.” |
