The library is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. each day while school is open. (Earlier hours and later hours are available by scheduling or previous arrangement.)

Scheduling Classes

 

  • Advance notice allows for planning and preparation when bringing a class to the library for a formal research project or lesson.
  • The library recognizes that advance notice is not always feasible especially when using the library for short-term information projects.
  • Individual students will be sent back to class if they are a disruption to the scheduled group or if they cannot be accommodated due to the nature of the use of the library at the time of their visit.

 

Borrowing Materials

 

  • Books are available for check out to students and teachers. The borrow period is two weeks for students. Renewal is available for longer time periods if the book has not been requested.

  • Magazines and newspapers are circulated to faculty members and are available to students for reading and in-house research.

  • Audiovisual materials such as DVDs, CDs, and VHS Videotapes are available to teachers for classroom use, and most can be circulated overnight for student research.

Equipment (Destination System, VCRs, DVD Player, Tape and CD Players, Laser-Disc Player, Slide Projector, etc.), maps, globes, and other instructional materials Students, parents, and teachers can make recommendations for new materials. This supports student learning/pleasure reading and can provide materials for professional development in your curriculum. Booktalks by genre, subject, curriculum topic, or author, as you request Sign up for classes for instruction or research.
Technology lessons integrated with your curriculum (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, Scanning, Online databases, etc.) Give copies of assignment sheets for student research projects and papers.
Books can be pulled, shelved, and brought to your classroom for a particular unit of study as well as help tracking down a resource or finding someone who can help you with your information needs. Send the entire overhead projector when a bulb burns out.
