Welcome to Dan River High!

As one of four high schools in Pittsylvania County, the Dan River High School Wildcats have much to boast about.  The Wildcats have made Adequate Yearly Progress, achieving the very stringent requirements as passed in the No Child Left Behind legislation.  Dan River High is also Fully Accredited according to the Virginia Standards of Learning Assessments.

The Wildcats also host the 2006 AA State Softball Championship team.  This is the first time in history a Pittsylvania County school has won a Softball State Championship.

Mission Statement

Recognizing that each student is a unique individual possessing worth, rights, dignity, and an array of various talents, abilities, needs and goals, it is the mission of Dan River High School to provide a curriculum in a safe and orderly environment, which affords students the opportunity to grow and learn physically, mentally, and emotionally.

By assisting students to discover, develop, and channel their capacities, graduates emerge into a rapidly changing, pluralistic society with global implications as morally, socially, and intellectually productive citizens.

Vision Statement

At Dan River High School, all students will learn to their fullest potential.  The education of each student will be individualized and developmentally appropriate.  National global and multicultural perspectives will enhance student learning.

Students who graduate from Dan River High School will possess a basic knowledge and skill that will assure their proficiency in problem solving and in the use of technology.  Graduates will have a desire to learn and the skills to be lifelong learners.  They will be respectful and productive citizens.  All graduates will be competent to enter the work world and prepared to pursue advanced educational opportunities.
