Internet access is provided to students and teachers for instructional purposes. In order to use computers in the library for Internet access, students should provide the library staff with a statement from a classroom teacher defining the nature of the research to be conducted. Students should not engage in "surfing" the Internet. Blocking software is installed on the system that prevents access to inappropriate sites.
Use of computer equipment provided by Pittsylvania County Schools for Internet access is governed by the Pittsylvania County School Board's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). The Acceptable Use Policy sets forth specific guidelines to be followed when using the Internet. Students found to be in violation of the AUP will face disciplinary action that may result in loss of Internet privileges.
