Rules
Several rules for the use of the library are to be followed:
- Students wishing to use the library must have a pass from a classroom teacher stating
the purpose for the visit.
- No food or drink should be brought into the library.
- Conversation, especially that necessary for conducting group assignments or research,
is expected. However, noise at a level above what is absolutely necessary should be avoided.
- Book bags should not be brought into the library. They should be left in lockers or
classrooms.
- Check-out is limited to two items at a time. Materials, excluding reference books,
may be checked out for two weeks. Reference materials may be checked out for overnight use
only. They must be checked out at the end of the school day and must be returned before
classes begin the following day. Periodicals and audiovisual materials do not circulate
to students.
- No materials are to be removed from the library without being properly checked out.
Students should not check materials out for others, or check them out for their use by
using another student's name.
- Fines will be assessed for lost, damaged, or overdue materials. A 5-cent per day charge
will be made for overdue materials; reference materials incur a 5-cent charge for each class
period they are overdue. Charges for lost materials will be assessed at current replacement
cost. In case an item that has been lost and paid for is returned, a refund of the amount
that exceeds overdue fines will be made.
